Exclusive experience with the first Sami silversmith Juhls

In winter, the snowmobile is one of Kautokeino’s most important resources, and with Norway’s largest trail network on it on the mainland we use the snowmobile both for the grocery store and to the reindeer herd on the plain. This the trip takes us on a scooter ride in our beautiful and colourful village. Guests also get a guided tour of Finnmark’s first and oldest silver smithy, Juhls Silver Gallery, which is one of Kautokeino’s definite “must see”.

The tour starts from Thon Hotel Kautokeino where guests get distributed warm outerwear.

Good to know:

The average temperature in winter is around -20 degrees. In Kautokeino you can still experience temperatures down to -45 degrees. Recommended clothing is therefore warm outerwear, woollen inner-wear, woollen socks, mittens, scarves, hat and good winter shoes.
